Miley Ray Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee and raised in Thompson's Station, Tennessee to Tish Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus. She is the eldest of five siblings, including two sisters and brothers younger than her. Her parents named her because they believed she could achieve the heights of success. Miley came to be her nickname in childhood. Smiley because of her cheerful nature. Her paternal great-grandfather was Democratic politician Ron Cyrus. Cyrus started her schooling in Heritage Elementary School in Tennessee. After she reached the age of eighteen, Cyrus and her family moved into Toronto in Canada where Billy Ray, Cyrus's father played the role of Doc (2001) on TV. Around this time, Cyrus also decided to take on the role of an actor. Her father was the lead in Doc (2001). In addition, Cyrus played part in Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003). The year 2005 saw Cyrus was cast as the lead on the Disney series Hannah Montana (2006), which follows a teenager who lives a double life as a pop star. The actress was joined by her father for the second time. The show would go on to be an enormous success. Record sales, tour dates which sold out, and merchandise agreements followed. Cyrus quickly became a popular teen phenomenon. Following the popularity of Hannah Montana 2006, Cyrus moved into other role. She played Ronnie Miller and Lola alongside Demi Moore in The Last Song 2010 and LOL 2012.
